gpe-image-3.5.4.1-netbook-pro.rootfs.jffs2, extracted. 2,223 files.
This is the community GPE root filesystem for the netBook Pro, and it is the
foundation the whole reconstruction is built on, for one reason: IT IS KNOWN
TO BOOT ON THIS HARDWARE. Psion's own filesystem is lost, so this stands in
underneath, with Psion's interface, configuration and applications applied
on top.
IT IS NOT PsionLX. The clearest evidence is that it holds 43 gpe-* binaries
but neither gpe-appmgr nor gpe-buttonbox -- whoever built it could not reach
Psion's private CVS, so exactly those two failed and dropped out of the
build.
WHAT IT IS STILL USED FOR
Spare parts. Several things missing from the card were found in here and
copied across -- fc-cache, fc-list and fc-match most recently, without
which the device could never build a fontconfig cache at all.
When something is missing, look here before assuming it is lost.
Compare it with ../../3-PSION-SOURCES/original-images/gpe-fs-cf.tar.bz2,
which is a different build of the same lineage and carries 277 files this
one does not.
