HOW IT WORKED
Unpack gpe-fs-cf.tar.bz2 onto an ext2 partition, then unpack this
overlay on top. The overlay carried Psion's theme, session scripts, dock
configuration and keyboard map -- 150 files.
WHY IT IS SUPERSEDED
It predates all the application work. There was no Word, no Sheet, no
Email, no launcher: matchbox-desktop stood in for gpe-appmgr, and none
of the 29 rebuilt Psion applications existed yet.
The finished images in 1-IMAGES are built from a complete filesystem
tree instead, which is both simpler for the user and far more complete.
WHY IT IS STILL HERE
It is the smallest possible statement of what makes a GPE system look
like PsionLX -- 62 KB of configuration and artwork. If you want to
"Psionise" some other GPE installation rather than use these images,
this overlay is the thing to look at, and it is much easier to read than
a 243 MB filesystem tree.
Note that its INSTALL.txt is the old one and describes the old route. It
also predates the NAND warning; read the release README.txt for that.
