BUILD SCRIPTS
=============
mkimage.sh Builds the CF card image from a root filesystem tree.
This is the one you will actually run. Minutes, no
root privileges. See ../README-HOW-TO-BUILD.txt.
qbuild.sh Runs a build job inside an emulated ARM OABI machine.
Usage: qbuild.sh <job.sh> [timeout-seconds]
It packs a FRESH chroot from ../arm-oabi-chroot every
run and recovers only /build/out, so a "make install"
in one job does not exist in the next.
mkdist.sh Assembles this release from the project tree.
install-built.py Installs build output into the card tree, keeping the
file it replaces as <name>.gpe-orig.
install-libs.py Resolves an ELF's library dependencies and installs
the ones that are missing.
elfdeps.py Walks ELF dependencies.
elfsyms.py Reports undefined symbols -- how you find out that a
binary will fail at runtime rather than at install.
mkicons.py Icon generation.
mkbg.py The desktop background, built from Psion's splash
artwork.
mkgconf.py Builds /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults from the
.schemas files. Without this, every application that
reads a schema default gets NULL -- which is why
Solitaire once drew blank white cards.
psionise.py Applies Psion's naming conventions to .desktop files
and window titles.
guitest.sh Boots the built image under QEMU with a framebuffer,
so you can see the desktop without a netBook Pro.
tapswitch.sh Host networking for the emulated machine.
A NOTE ON PATHS
These expect the project layout: a workspace/ directory with card/,
build/ and qemu/ beside scripts/. ../README-HOW-TO-BUILD.txt explains
how to lay that out from this release.
mkimage.sh looks for e2fsprogs at /opt/homebrew/opt/e2fsprogs/sbin,
which is where Homebrew puts it on Apple Silicon. On Linux, change the
E= line near the top to /sbin.
