ORPHANED BINARIES -- 14 MB OF DEAD WEIGHT

Found by the inventory audit of 30 September 2026: binaries left on the card
with nothing able to launch them.
AbiWord-2.4 4.2 MB
Stock AbiWord 2.4. Its data tree /usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4 was parked
when Psion's 2.0.11 replaced it -- but the binary stayed behind.
WORSE THAN USELESS: had anything launched it, it would have found no
glade dialogs, no templates and no string catalogue, and broken in a
confusing way. It was reachable from a shell the whole time.
mozilla-minimo/ 10 MB
The complete Minimo browser runtime -- a Mozilla build made for
handhelds. Its launcher and .desktop were parked when Firefox
replaced it, but the libraries stayed.
Harmless, just dead: nothing on the card referenced the path, and
Firefox carries its own libnspr4.so and libnss3.so.
HOW THIS HAPPENS
Parking a file is done per-path. Park usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4 and
usr/bin/minimo, and usr/bin/AbiWord-2.4 and usr/lib/mozilla-minimo are
still sitting there. Nothing complains, because nothing looks.
The audit found them by listing every binary and asking which had a
.desktop or a reference pointing at it. Worth repeating occasionally.
RESTORING MINIMO, IF YOU WANT IT
Minimo is genuinely lighter than Firefox 1.0 on a 400 MHz XScale, and on
this hardware that is not a small difference. To bring it back:
cp -a mozilla-minimo <card>/usr/lib/
cp -a ../minimo <card>/usr/bin/
cp -a ../minimo.desktop <card>/usr/share/applications/
Psion's own manifest lists firefox and not minimo, which is why the
images ship Firefox, but there is no reason you cannot have both.
