EMULATOR SUPPORT FILES ====================== vmlinuz-versatile a Debian ARM kernel for QEMU's "versatilepb" machine (lenny's 2.6.26) initramfs.gz its initramfs: runs /guitest.sh or /build.sh from the disk it is given xclick/ xclick and libXtst.so.6 -- the tap helper guitest.sh lends to its test copies; a "d" before a point double-clicks it These boot the ARM OABI build chroot (scripts/qbuild.sh) and the emulator test of a built card tree (scripts/guitest.sh). They are the HOST side and have nothing to do with the netBook Pro -- the device's own kernels are in 3-PSION-SOURCES/original-images/ and bootimg/. scripts/qbuild.sh runs: qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -m 256 \ -kernel vmlinuz-versatile -initrd initramfs.gz \ -drive file=build.ext2,... -append "console=ttyAMA0 rw" \ -nographic -no-reboot With GUITEST_NET=1, scripts/guitest.sh adds QEMU's user-mode network (-nic user,model=smc91c111): the guest is 10.0.2.15 and the host is 10.0.2.2. A broadcast to 255.255.255.255 never leaves QEMU, but one to 10.0.2.255 reaches the host's loopback, which is how the Spotify app's discovery of PsionNet was tested. NOT INCLUDED: the .ext2 disk images. build.ext2 and the GUI test images come to over 4 GB and are regenerated from the chroot on every run, so shipping them would be 4 GB of nothing. A build ends with "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!" in the log. That is normal and expected -- the job script finishes, init exits, the guest kernel panics, and qbuild.sh kills the emulator. Look for JOB_EXIT=0 and BUILD_SCRIPT_DONE above it.
