***********************************************************************************************
OVERVIEW OF THIS RELEASE
***********************************************************************************************
This release is mainly a fix release, with some added features.

A condition causing the date and time to occasionally reset to 1/1/1980 00:00:00 has been fixed.
A condition in which the unit would remain on after a warmboot with the case closed, has been fixed.
Novatel UMTS Modems would lock the SIM after too few erroneous PIN entries.
A couple of fixes are added to TweakIt.
Support has been added for IDEN modems, and the GPRS Operator database has been updated.

***********************************************************************************************
SPECIAL NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS.
***********************************************************************************************
- SMS Support is known to be broken in this release.

- BooSt and PCon must be upgraded to -404 when the OS is upgraded.

- Running applications from Storage Cards.
Microsoft kb893045 included in the QFE's applied to this build address problems when running
applications or accessing files from storage cards when the file system uses memory paging.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893045.

The default mode for the storage card filesystem is paged. In the -402 release, the user was able
to directly access the registry to disable paging. Beginning with -403,the Tweak-it utility allows
memory paging to be controlled though a configuration panel. With respect to paging there are still
tradeoffs with respect to the initial loading speed of the application, as well as the program memory
requirements. These changes should be made with care and carefully tested.

- Date and Time Defaults:

The default date and time will now be properly set by PCon (-309 version) on an initial cold start
(no backup or main battery, and no external power applied). Previously the RTC was not set
correctly under these conditions.
Normally the OS also set a default time on startup, but if for any reason this did not happen
the RTC could then have shown random values on cold start. With this OS release,
WinCE no longer sets a default time. So with this OS and the -309 PCon, the default date
and time will be set to Feb. 1 2004 00:00:00.

- Corrupted File System and Bad Blocks in the NAND flash file system.

Before upgrading, open Windows Explorer and check the Properties of the Flash Disk.
The total of free and used memory should be >10MB. If the total is less, it might indicate that
the NAND flash needs to be recovered from incorrectly marked bad blocks. Please contact
Psion Teklogix Technical Support if this is the case.

It is suggested that the NAND flash be erased before upgrading to this release.
This can be done using the "F" command in BooSt.

- Total Recall

In the -400 and earlier, profiles created by Total Recall could not be restored after
upgrading to a later release. In -401, 403 and in subsequent releases, Total Recall will
attempt to restore profiles created by an earlier release. Profiles created by releases 402,
400 and earlier will not be restored.

Changes in Previous release:
***********************************************************************************************
Date: April 22, 2005
Type: Intermediate
Date Code:	D185k and D185l
Version: 1000932-401 and 1000934-401

PRJ 100:
The listing of profile types in Total Recall has changed so that they are more
intuitive. We have also introduced the ability to select an Auto-Restore profile.
This was done to allow users to specify which of multiple Auto-Restore profiles
will be restored.

PRJ 86:
WWAN will now also support the Option Globetrotter Combo and Enfora GSM0110

PRJ 86:
SCRs 8173, 8177, 9695, 10766, 10767 and SCR 10769:
The Wireless WAN driver, manager and stack has been added to the Netbook Pro. WWAN
will provide an NDIS interface for GSM/GPRS as well as CDMA cards. The WWAN
manager provides the same "Auto configuration" and PIN code saving functionality as the
previous autoconfig driver. Additional features of WWAN are:
 - "Auto Connect" which will establish a connection once the device resumes from suspend.
- An interface to allow a user to configure a SIM provider's information.
- The Modem Info dialogue, which displays manufacturer, model information, IMEI, IMSI,
phone number (if stored on SIM), and type of network (GPRS or CDMA).

PRJ 91:
Correct security dialog for WWAN, and address the initialization of modem cards when
inserting and removing them.

SCR 10630:
Add support for Vodafone Mobile Connect GPRS Cards.

SCR 10631:

SCR 10657:
Corrected issue whereby the Prompt for password option did not always prompt the
user for the password.

SCR 10712:
Corrected an issue whereby the WWAN driver would fail to reload after disabling it.

SCR 10814 and 10850:
Total Recall now has the ability to allow profiles to be migrated from build to
another. This will be done by default for any of the three profile types. Note
that any encrypted information (passwords or certificates) with in the
registry will not be restored when migrating to a new build.

SCR 10877:
Changes were made to Total Recall when checking for the device ID and platform to allow
migrated profiles to load.

SCR 10900:
Total Recall now uses the file creation time to identify which AutoRestore profile will
be loaded. The file with the latest date will be used versus the previous scheme which
was alpha numeric.

SCR 10963:
Total Recall now displays a brief status message after setting an auto-restore profile.

SCR 11006:
A shortcut from the Programs menu was added to WWAN Manager for ease of use.

SCR 11024:
Corrected minor issue whereby WWAN may disable the Connect Data option
when not connected.

SCR 9367:
GSM 07.10 multiplexer support has been added to WWAN. This will allow
cards that support multiplexing to display the signal level when connected.

***********************************************************************************************
Changes Also Included in Previous Releases:
***********************************************************************************************
Previously Included in C095n (1000932-400)
***********************************************************************************************
SCR 10546:
The FAT file system would sometimes become corrupted if the unit suspended during a write to
Flash. The results could be serious, including a unit that would not boot unless the flash
was completely erased. It is also suspected of causing NAND memory blocks to be falsely marked
as "BAD".

SCR 10865:
On resume from suspend, with Proxim or Cisco radio and a CF memory device installed, the unit
would go to Standby (no backlight) 10 seconds after resuming. This would happen only on battery
power if the power scheme "Switch to Standby" was set to anything but "Never".
This was fixed by setting the registry key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\<device instance>\Parms]
      "DisablePowerManagement"=dword:00000001

for WLAGS46B1 (Proxim, USI, Askey...) and CISCO1.

SCR 10854
Fixed data abort exception occurs in the internal modem DeInit function. No known effects.

SCR 9154
Made SpreadCE the application associated to .xls files.

SCR 10266, 10340, 9532
Added SIP CPL. New control panel applet to control Input Panel. The input method can now be
switched between the keyboard and an input panel (on the touchscreen). This applet allows
choice of available input methods, including the default Microsoft input panel, and any custom
panels added.
It also includes a checkbox that allows/disallows applications from changing the input method.
There is a new icon at the extreme bottom right of the screen that when tapped brings up a
menu to select the input. By default there are only two lines on the menu - "Keyboard" and
"Hide Input Panel". In this context "Keyboard" means the default soft keyboard available with
CE. If other input panels are added they will appear in this menu above "Keyboard".
"Hide Input Panel" stops the chosen soft input panel from appearing, enabling the physical
keyboard (the default state). For more information on input panels see

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/wceinput/html/ceconReceivingInputFromInputpanel.asp

SCR 10303
Localize the Built-in Modem in dialup settings applet (non-English builds).

SCR 10650
The Board Type now appears in the general tab in Control Panel => System - General. Note that
NETBOOK PROs with USB Client support and built-in modem are identified as Rev D.

SCR 10658
The presence of an internal Modem now shows in System Properties

SCR 10708:
When the NETBOOK PRO is clean started from BooSt, Total Recall will now ignore AutoRestore
profiles. This prevents lockup in the event that a profile has become corrupted such that the
restored unit will not run.

SCR 10721
The automatic (logical) eject on suspend of SDIO cards is now configurable in the registry.
The key is

[HKLM/System/PsionTeklogix EjectCardOnSuspend].

It's set to 1 by default. To disable the eject change it to 0. The change is made to cure
access violation errors when applications are run from the card.

There is no control panel applet to change this key, it must be directly edited in the registry.

Note: if the key is set to 0, then changes made to the SD card while the unit is "turned off"
(that is, in suspend) will not be seen on resume until the card is removed and replaced.

SCR 10755
The suspend delay value is now read from the registry.
The NETBOOK PRO delays suspend if it has just come back from resume, by 20 seconds.
This is to prevents the network stack/radio driver from becoming confused when the bind or
unbind procedure has not completed and is then asked to do the opposite.
Previously, the delay value was hard-coded, adding an unnecessary delay for devices that did
not have radios.
Now the delay can be configured by changing the registry key:

[HKLM/System/Control/CurrentControlSet/Power/Timeouts/SuspendDelay]

The value is in seconds. A setting of zero results in no delay required between resuming and
suspending.
There is no control panel for changing this value, you must directly edit the registry.

Note: A value of zero makes sense only if you have no radio!
If you have a radio, leave it at the default (20 seconds).
Values between 1 and 10 could cause problems.

SCR 10810
Some CF memory cards (e.g. Hitachi) were not being recognized on resume.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842655 for details.

SCR 10292, 8455
When the serial server is activated/deactivated in the Bluetooth manager, the change is
permanent and does not require reboot anymore.

Now the manager will send an IOCTL call to BTSVC and BTSVC will create the SDP record
so that it doesn't get lost when the manager exits.
BTSVC will take IOCTL_SERVICE_INSTALL to activate the serial server and
IOCTL_SERVICE_UNINSTALL to deactivate the server.

SCR 10306
Fixed the Epson LCD driver to work in 8 BPP color depth

SCR 10308
Bluetooth manager improvements:

Bluetooth Controls now displays hardware information.
The Bluetooth Controls "Property" tab has been split into two tabs, "Properties" and
"Active Conn."
The "Properties" tab contains the following new information:
	Manufacturer: name (e.g. Zeevo, Inc)
HCI Version: x.yyy (x = HCI Version, yyy = HCI Revision)
LMP Version: x.yyy (x = LMP Version, yyy = LMP Subversion)
 where
-HCI Version is the major hardware version of the Bluetooth hardware.
This value changes only when new versions of the Bluetooth hardware
are created for the new Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) specifications.

-HCI Revision is the revision of the current Host Controller Interface (HCI)
	in the Bluetooth hardware.

-LMP Version is the Version of the current Link Manager Protocol (LMP) in the Bluetooth
	hardware.

-LMP Subversion is the subversion of the current LMP in the Bluetooth hardware.

-Manufacturer is the Name of the Bluetooth hardware manufacturer as listed in the list
of assigned numbers on the official bluetooth site (www.bluetooth.org).

across languages.

SCR 8789
Merged the definition of...
 IOCTL_NetBookPro_GET_BOOTCODE_DATECODE
 into...
 IOCTL_PTX_GET_BOOTCODE_DATECODE

and

 IOCTL_NetBookPro_GET_SDRAM_SIZE
 into...
 IOCTL_PTX_GET_SDRAM_SIZE

Note: The old definitions are still supported, the change makes it easier to use apps
on different PTX platforms.

SCR 8942 and SCR 9334
Added Open TekTerm support for the new Bluetooth Profile Manager. Note: this does not add
OTT to NETBOOK PRO.

This might have caused problems with devices like keyboards and mice.

SCR 9310:
USI radio drivers did not always resume from suspend reliably if a second CF/PCMCIA device was
in the system. The radio driver did not reinitialize correctly.
The default ResetOnResume registry entry has been changed from 1 to 0 to correct this.

SCR 9325:
Total Recall now displays a default name for any new profile being created.

SCR 9327:
Total Recall now changes the caption on the Backup-to button if the user has gone back
and changed to backup-to location.

and added a splash screen.

SCR 9787: Prevent lockups when playing sounds in the 753x (stub function)**********

SCR 9815
CF/PCMCIA cards would not always initialize correctly on coldboot. This would cause
Total Recall autorestore to fail, among other things.

SCR 9816.1:	(netbookpro) Added French and German translations for the Suspend dialog.
SCR 9816.2:	(netbookpro) Added Spanish and Italian translations for the Suspend dialog.

SCR 10217:
Removed a previous change to 802.1x authentication in order to accommodate the official fix
provided by Microsoft in the 2004 Q2 QFEs. LEAP was broken.

SCR 10296:
For Italian keyboards the Insert key function has been added and is invoked by using FUN+M key.
With Nordic keyboards the Insert key function has also been added and is invoked by using FUN+V key.

SCR 10007:
Previously after a cold boot (with backup battery applied) only the time was maintained.
Now after a cold boot the time and date as well as any system clock setting, will be maintained.
Previously on an initial cold start (no backup or main battery, and no external power applied),
WinCE set a default date and time. Now it relies on PCon to set this default, and does itself not
set a default.

SCR 10170:
We now include support for Option Globetrotter v2 cards. As with the previous version 1 cards,
AutoConfig will maintain the Pin Code and the APN, as well as configure a connection, if required.

SCR 10205:
Improvements to AutoConfig have been made in order to support the Option Globetrotter v2 cards.
The improvements are as follows:
We have extended delays when waiting for a response from the Option Globetrotter v2 card.
We now verify the response read when requesting the CIMI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity).
Upon detection of Option Globetrotter v2 cards only, the Unimodem Reset registry entry will
be changed to AT. This is due to problems with Option Globetrotter v2 firmware 6.18.0 and earlier.
Since this change has been implemented for earlier firmware, it maybe removed at a later time,
as Option has corrected this issue with firmware 6.19.0.

French and German keyboards.

SCR 10128:
In the Control Panel -> Power -> Advanced tab, the checkbox "Switch on when serial
cable connected" now reads "Switch on when serial or USB sync cable connected".
This is necessary for rev E Board types that support active sync over USB.

SCR 9145

SCR 7647:
Added an Infrared External Modem registry entry.
Previously available in cab file format, this entry adds "Infrared Modem"
to the devices available for dialup connection. Use to create connection
over GSM/GPRS phone with infrared support. Note that cell phone
service must be provisioned appropriately.
Added the registry key
	[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\IRModem]
     "Port"="COM3:"
     "DeviceType"=dword:1
     "FriendlyName"= Infrared Modem

SCR 9697:
Added support for ASUS GPRS radio cards.
Option GSM/GPRS radio cards now use xsc1bd_serial drivers. This fixes
a problem with static IP addresses.
Turned off data and header compression for GSM/GPRS radio cards.
(Asus and AudioVox CF cards do not support compression.)

SCR 9274:
Add XML Mime viewer to image. Required to properly display xml files in IE.

SCR 9911:
Fat Utility and reformat dialogs have been added. Also FAT 16 and multiple partitions can be
created on SD/MMC cards.

You will notice that the formatting utility allows the selection of TFAT as a file
system on a storage device. Please note that desktop versions of Windows will likely not fully
support this file system. While TFAT does claim to deliver transaction-safe file operations in
an embedded environment such as the NETBOOK PRO, desktop devices will likely be limited to
reading files. Creating folders and writing files may prove to be a problem.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wcemain4/html/cmtskUsingTFAT.asp

Note also that BooSt will not at this time read TFAT or FAT32 formatted cards. this can be an
issue when upgrading the NETBOOK PRO.

The storage device formatting menus are available under Control Panel- Storage Manager.
Some things to note about formatting storage devices:

	- There is a "Format" button on the main Storage Properties Storage Manager tab.
This button does not actually create a useable file system on the selected device.
What it does is perform a clean format on the device, wiping out any existing partitions.
There is a confirmation dialog for this operation.

	- The same "Format" will result in "Unable to format store" if it is attempted while
any of the device partitions is mounted. A mounted partition is shown by an
asterisk in the "Partitions:" list box.

	- The "Dismount" button on the same tab dismounts all partitions on the selected device.

	- The "New" button creates a partition on the device. Once a partition has been created
you can format through its Properties. It must be dismounted before it can be formatted.

While you can create multiple partitions on storage devices, do not assume that "Big Windows"
(XP, 2000, etc.) will be able to see them.

KB838793
KB840880
These Microsoft fixes to CE address at least one known issue in the NETBOOK PRO:

SCR 8746, 8668:

SCR 7230:
The PCMCIA/CF socket power control API has been added to the NETBOOK PRO.
Add SDMMC socket enable/disable capability.

SCR 7466:
Added volume control using FUN+J and FUN+H keys

SCR 8434 and SCR 9555:
Prevent multiple SD-MMC folders from appearing on rapid card insertion/removals.

SCR 9188:
New algorithm to init the backlight. The 5msec delay has been removed, and
the backlight turn-on algorithm has been modified to mitigate the effects of this
problem.

SCR 9667:
Add Card Slots tab to Power Options dialog.
A new tab (Extensions) has been added to the "Power" applet in Control Panel.
The tab identifies what cards are installed, and via a checkbox/"Apply" button
permits the user to disable and enable power to the card slots individually.

OTHER:
Added FKey functionality to NetbookPro.
Now we can produce FKeys (F1 through F12) on the NetbookPro keyboard.
Fn-Spacebar latches the FKey mode. Pressing one of the top row keys produces
the corresponding FKey:
	1 through 9 keys are F1 through F9,
	0 key is F10,
	- key (on US English keyboard) is F11, and
	Delete key is F12.
Any key press other than a modifier key unlatches the FKey state.

SCR 9417:
Added support in power manager for SystemIdleTimerReset. This allows applications
to prevent the NETBOOK PRO from suspending.

SCRs 9448, 9700
Implemented wake on RTC alarm. Note that this requires corresponding changes in
both BooSt and PCon.

SCR 9543:
Added support for cold-reset and reset-to-bootloader in the Power Manager.
The following two parameters are supported in SetSystemPowerState API:

  1. POWER_STATE_RESET_BOOTLOADER --> To Cold boot and startup BooSt.
  2. POWER_STATE_RESET_COLD --> To Cold boot only.

Trying to open a JPEG file from a USB device failed and locked up the NETBOOK.

SCR 9007:
Total Recall: large profiles (>512KB) were reported as corrupt.

SCR 9129:
USB Driver was reporting the incorrect length on packets when doing a Bulk Read Transfer.
This was causing USB to serial converters to fail.

SCR 9136:
Total Recall: For backup operations, users can now skip files that are owned exclusively by
another process. Note: the preferred method is to find out which process or application
owns the file, and close it. Skipping files can result in incomplete profiles.

SCR 9187 and SCR 9205:
Total Recall: Users now see a progress bar during backup, and the unit will no longer
suspend during long backups.

SCR 9208:
Total Recall: Corrupt profiles were still taking up disk space even after they were deleted.

SCR 9213:
Total Recall: Avoid backing up unnecessary files by creating an image file list.

SCR 9214:
Total Recall: Profiles were becoming invisible to the TR application.

Total Recall: Profile files (.pfl) are now represented by the Total Recall icon

SCR 9317:
The unit would hang when trying to use ImageViewer and PDFViewer on files stored on USB
storage devices.

SCR 9353:
Certicom provided a new version of VPN client that allows it to work over dialup. This version
requires movianVPN license version 4. This license version is now installed.
Note that the version 3 client can still be installed by using remove programs to uninstall
the version 4 license, and installing the version 3 license. This will be required if PKI
support is needed, as PKI is not provided with the fixed client.

SCR 9383:
Total Recall: The TR error log was being overwritten if a profile name had been
used but the profile itself deleted.

SCR 9386:
Total Recall: Profiles saved as "this unit only" were behaving as clone profiles.

image profiles from being restored to another (i.e. different locales), Total Recall
checks the kernel date code of the platform before restoring a profile. To prevent device
specific backups (auto-restore profiles for a certain device only), Total Recall stores/checks
the device's unique ID before restore.

SCR 8648:
Fixed navigation problems in Total Recall.

SCR 8657:
Total Recall sorts profiles alphabetically, and where there are multiple profiles, will
